Scrum Master, LIMS

Description

Invitae is looking for a Scrum Master who will be responsible for managing the agile process of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software engineering team. In this role you will apply agile principles to ensure continuous team improvement and successful delivery of software to your team’s stakeholders. In addition, you will help the assay development team (our team that designs and develops fully-automated, high-throughput next generation sequencing-based genetic tests) plan, sequence and coordinate projects that will require LIMS and other software development team effort.

Responsibilities

  • Champion & reinforce Agile and Scrum principles
  • Facilitate the Scrum process and team meetings
  • Coordinate team dependencies
  • Eliminate impediments
  • Promote improved engineering and quality assurance practices
  • Capture empirical data to improve forecasts
  • Support long term planning, roadmap creation
  • Manage sprint story/task assignment to team members
  • Foster smooth deployment processes

Requirements

  • Experience as a scrum master
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of, and experience with, the SDLC
  • Experience applying concepts and techniques from multiple agile approaches
  • Understand backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition
  • Good team player, but able to work independently
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Preferred: Strong experience configuring agile tools (e.g. Jira)
  • Preferred: Experience in a lab environment or managing lab projects
  • Preferred: Familiarity or experience with molecular assay development
  • Preferred: Experience leading formal technical projects
