Head of Sales Operations


Invitae is a rapidly growing genetic testing company driven by the mission to expand access to high-quality, comprehensive, low-cost genetic testing. To support this growth, Invitae is looking to add a Head of Commercial Operations to our team.    The Head of Commercial Operations will be responsible for driving how data, processes and technology enable Invitae to achieve its commercial goals.


  • Work with Sales, Marketing, Finance, company leadership and other stakeholders in the following areas:

Data, Analytics & Forecasting

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of our customer database to enable highly targeted, efficient commercial activities
  • Create dashboards to allow visibility into the effectiveness of sales and marketing programs for front line reps, as well as managers and company leaders
  • Perform analysis to identify opportunities for improvement or answer key questions as they arise
  • Develop and maintain the internal commercial plan forecast and model

Technology Identification & Implementation

  • Identify technology solutions to further improve the effectiveness of our sales and marketing activities and work with relevant internal partners to ensure successful implementation

Process Development & Improvement

  • Work with sales and marketing leaders to simplify, streamline, eliminate and/or automate manual or inefficient processes
  • Develop new processes, as needed, to allow for new sales and marketing activities

General Problem Solving & Commercial Support

  • Help solve problems throughout our commercial activities as they arise
  • Ongoing support of key commercial activities including:
  • Territory creation
  • Sales commission design
  • Sales forecasting


  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a positive
  • 5+ years of work experience in relevant job functions, including: sales/business/marketing operations, strategic planning, management consulting and investment banking
  • A track record across your work history of leading challenging analytic and problem solving projects to drive measurable business value


  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Logical, thorough, rigorous and detail oriented approach
  • Systematic and strategic thinker
  • Excellent excel modeling skills are essential
  • Knowledge of Tableau, Salesforce and other data analytics, marketing or sales software systems a plus
