ALG11-CDG (CDG-Ip) is a rare cause of congenital disorders of glycosylation, and the percentage of cases attributed to pathogenic variants in ALG11 is unknown.

ALG11 encodes a mannosyltransferase of the N-linked glycosylation pathway that uses GDP-mannose to sequentially add the fourth and fifth mannose residues to growing dolichol-linked oligosaccharide side chains on the cytosolic side of the endoplasmic reticulum (PMID: 20080937).
