Associated disorders

The SHOC2 gene is associated with autosomal dominant Noonan-like syndrome with loose anagen hair (MedGen UID: 334697).

An estimated 5% of Noonan syndrome is caused by pathogenic variants in SHOC2.

The SHOC2 gene encodes a protein with leucine-rich repeats and may function as a scaffold protein that interacts with RAS and RAF to regulate downstream signal transducers in the RAS/MAPK pathway. SHOC2 acts as positive modulator of RAS/MAPK signaling pathway in response to growth factor signals.
