  • Work with Invitae’s genetic counselors and your doctor to develop your personalized wellness plan.

Frequently asked questions

How is Invitae's genetic test different from other genetic tests that I’ve heard about?

Invitae’s proactive health tests are different from many other proactive DNA tests because Invitae’s tests provide comprehensive results about a variety of important medical conditions that have a clear medical path forward.
Our tests use a method called next-generation sequencing, which analyzes your genes for many medically-relevant, disease-causing variants (changes). We also analyze deletions and duplications in your genes that may be linked to an increased risk of disease, which can be difficult to detect with other methods of genetic testing.

How long does it take to get my results?

Once Invitae receives your sample, our turnaround time for proactive cancer screening tests are typically 2-3 weeks on average. You will be able to track the progress of your genetic test through our online portal after you register your kit.

How accurate is Invitae's test?

The Invitae Cancer Screen is the same clinical-grade test that doctors order from Invitae. Our genetic testing is backed by peer-reviewed studies showing 100% analytic sensitivity and specificity compared to historical hereditary cancer genetic testing laboratories.
