Detect Hereditary Pancreatic Cancer

No-charge genetic testing and counseling for individuals diagnosed with pancreatic cancer

About pancreatic cancer

  • More than 56,000 adults in the United States are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer annually.

  • Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer death in men and women in the US.

  • Professional society guidelines recommend germline genetic testing for hereditary pancreatic cancer to help assess precision medicine options and evaluate inclusion in clinical trials.

Program eligibility

This program is available to individuals in the US and Canada with one of the following diagnoses:

  • Pancreatic adenocarcinoma at any age

  • Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor at any age

Testing options

All orders submitted through the Detect Hereditary Pancreatic Program will include analyses of both of the following panels (results will be delivered separately in two different reports):

Invitae BRCA1 and BRCA2 STAT Panel

Results of the Invitae BRCA1 and BRCA2 STAT Panel will be reported 5-12 days from sample accessioning. Accelerated turnaround time may be necessary because physicians and patients often want to make surgical and management decisions as quickly as possible.

Invitae Multi-Cancer Panel

The Invitae Multi-Cancer Panel is a comprehensive cancer panel that tests genes associated with hereditary cancer syndromes, including known pancreatic cancer genes. Results of the Invitae Multi-Cancer Panel will be reported separately within 21 days of delivery of the Invitae BRCA1 and BRCA2 STAT Panel report.
