Lab Automation Technician

Description

We are looking for candidates with experience supporting laboratory automation applications.  This candidate will collaborate with teams of scientists and engineers to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize automated systems in the NGS lab. The work requires excellent attention to detail, effective written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multi-task and be flexible with tasks and schedules, and the ability to work independently in a team environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to work at our San Francisco lab location on a Wed-Sunday full-time schedule
  • Laboratory experience, preferably in a molecular biology lab under regulatory regimes such as CLIA, CAP, or FDA
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supporting laboratory automation; experience with robotic liquid handling systems
  • Strong organizational skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in troubleshooting effort
  • Preferred Experience: basic programming skills; ability to follow programming logics and understand pseudo-code

Responsibilities

  • Support laboratory automation, perform scheduled instrument maintenance per SOP
  • Qualify and requalify lab equipment for production use
  • Identify any issues that may adversely affect the quality of test results and report to appropriate representatives to ensure prompt resolution
  • Interact with many different functional groups, and work on programs throughout the development timeline
  • Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting, process documentation, user training, equipment validation, and vendor relations
